Unity Point Health
Public health services are provided by contract through Trinity Muscatine.
Trinity Muscatine Public Health provides assessment of the community's health and health needs through a variety of ways. Every five years, Trinity Muscatine Public Health coordinates the Community Health Needs Assessment. This is a process that identifies the leading health disparities of the community utilizing a variety of information and data.
By utilizing an assessment method, priorities for health funding can be identified and resources can be established to address the health needs of the community. Trinity Muscatine Public Health performs assessments of community health needs and assets frequently through programs that they provide.
Trinity Muscatine Public Health provides assurances that legislative mandates and statutory responsibilities that relate to health are implemented. Assurance requires that those in need of specific health services are able to access them. Trinity Muscatine Public Health provides services including immunizations, communicable disease treatment and follow-up, screening for lead poisoning, well-child examinations, prenatal education, and linkages with community resources for those in need of specific services to meet these assurance requirements.
An example of a legislative mandate is that all Iowa school-age children be appropriately immunized. Trinity Muscatine Public Health performs immunization audits at every school and pre-school in the county every year. Children that do not have up-to-date immunizations can be restricted from entry to school; the Muscatine County Board of Health enforces this activity.
